Sir Victor Uwaifo promises to drag Simi down for stealing his 1969 hit, Joromi

Legendary singer, Sir Victor Uwaifo has once again spoken on the issue of songstress Simi redoing his 1969 hit, Joromi without getting any sort of permission from him to do so, and he’s promised to drag her all the way down for that.
According to the 77-year-old singer, Simi stands guilty for using elements of his 90s’ classic, Joromi, to make her 2017 hit song which bears the same title. During an interview with Sahara TV, Sir Victor Uwaifo explained that he owns the right to the name ‘Joromi’ and threatened to take legal actions against Simi over the issue.

He says he created the name, stating that Joromi is his original idea, contrary to the popular opinion that it was extracted from the cultural books of Edo natives. He described it as a ‘franchise’ that has been trademarked. His words;

“Joromi is a franchise. Joromi never existed before. Joromi is a trademark. It has never happened. Take for example if I just go ahead and take the trademark of one of these soft drinks or something else and use it to do another work. Of course, they won’t take it cuz it’s a contravention. So, Simi is in trouble with me for using Joromi to do another work.”
